Digilocker

What is DigiLocker?

A secure and reliable cloud-based platform for storing, displaying, and validating documents and certifications is offered by Digital Locker. The portal is connected to the user’s Aadhaar Number and controls and saves all digital identification verification papers.

The government has decided that a variety of official identity proofs issued by the government, including driving licences, car registrations, voter identification cards, PAN cards, school and college diplomas, and many others, will now be accepted as officially valid documents when presented in digital format in an effort to facilitate paperless governance and make life easier for citizens. In what can be considered a “digital documents” wallet, DigiLocker offers unrestricted access to genuine documents in digital format.

There are types of Digilocker services

DigiLocker for Consumers

Using the DigiLocker website, users may quickly establish an account. He or she can sign in using your Aadhaar number and the OTP issued to the cellphone number associated with your Aadhaar. The necessary statutory authority, such as the UIDAIL, the Income Tax Department, the CBSE, etc., can provide the papers or upload them for him or her.

DigiLocker for Businesses

DigiLocker is still a young technology. In a nation with 138 crore people, there are only 3.84 crore DigiLocker customers. It is clear that the majority of people lack access to DigiLocker accounts. In order to expand its user base, DigiLocker collaborated with UIDAI to develop a specific configuration that enables Registered Requestor Agencies, such as IDcentral, to enable the instantaneous creation of DigiLocker accounts for clients and to retrieve their issued Aadhaar cards and other documents.

What is Aadhaar XML?

The UIDAI has digitally authenticated Aadhaar XML in machine-readable XML format to confirm and validate the Aadhaar card’s validity. Aadhar Paperless Offline e-KYC is another name for Aadhar XML.

To establish and confirm the identity of the cardholder offline, it is an encrypted, safe, secure, and shareable machine-readable XML document that has been digitally signed. After it has been taken from the UIDAI website, it may be kept on a laptop or a phone. In the KYC procedures used by various organisations, XML files are helpful.

What’s the Difference between Digilocker and UIDAI issued Aadhaar XML?

The Aadhaar XML file downloaded from the UIDAI website and the Aadhaar XML file produced by DigiLocker differ significantly in one important way. Aadhaar XML file provided by DigiLocker is constructed along similar lines as Aadhaar e-KYC. Aadhaar e-KYC, which is hosted by Authentication User Agency, a company that provides Aadhaar-enabled services to Aadhaar cardholders, contains demographic information that is time-stamped and called “Time to Live.” There is a one-year expiration term shown by the fact that the “TTL” column has an exact one-year expiration date.

The Aadhaar Paperless Offline KYC or the Aadhaar XML file, which may be downloaded from the UIDAI website, should be marked as being lifetime valid. This indicates that the Aadhaar XML file may be used indefinitely for identity verification and authentication. So, it is clear that Aadhaar Paperless Offline e-KYC is a far better alternative than the Aadhaar XML file supplied by DigiLocker. Very few downtimes may be anticipated with an incredible 95%+ success rate in collecting, extracting, and confirming Aadhaar Paperless Offline e-KYC from the UIDAI website.

However, in the future, if a video or in-person KYC is conducted in addition to the extraction, verification, and authentication of the DigiLocker provided Aadhaar XML file, it will be possible to obtain the DigiLocker issued Aadhaar XML file and its concurrent identity authentication and verification for short-term loans, completing the KYC process.
